El Loco Fandango is a ZZ Top tribute from Arvada, Colorado, built by Don, Mike, and Tim Elliott. The project officially came together in 2021 after Don and Mike had long been getting the same reaction when they were seen together at bars and local shows: hey, it’s ZZ Top. When Tim overheard it and stepped in, the trio was formed.
They spent the next several months building a set from ZZ Top’s 50 years in the making song library. The focus has been on the details that matter in a tribute show, with careful work on both the look and the sound.
Don, Mike, and Tim shaped their tone to reflect ZZ Top’s live performances as well as the recorded versions of the band’s biggest hits. On the visual side, they have put time into western wear, beard care, the right amount of bling, and a selection of matching instruments.
The result is a ZZ Top-focused show designed around recognizable songs, era-specific style, and tribute-driven accuracy. Their schedule this year reaches beyond Colorado and puts the band on the road across state lines.
