Earth Wind & Fire tribute
A 10-piece Earth, Wind & Fire tribute with a full horn section
Kalimba is a Seattle-area Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band based in the Pacific Northwest. The group has been together since 2011, founded by lead vocalist Thomas “Chazz” Smith with the goal of playing the Earth, Wind & Fire music he grew up listening to.
Since forming, Kalimba has grown into a 10-piece band with a full horn section. Their set draws from well-known Earth, Wind & Fire songs including Shining Star, That’s the Way of the World, Devotion, Sing a Song, Can’t Hide Love, Getaway, Fantasy, Love’s Holiday, September, Boogie Wonderland, After the Love Has Gone, and Let’s Groove.
Kalimba performs nationally at casinos, state fairs, and jazz clubs. For buyers, the format is easy to place: a large tribute lineup built around familiar material and a dedicated horn-driven presentation.
In 2013, former Earth, Wind & Fire guitarist Sheldon Reynolds (1987–2001) reached out to Kalimba to collaborate on certain ventures. In his words, “out of 1000 other bands that I have heard play this material, Kalimba is the first band that gets it like it’s supposed to be played”.
For events looking for an Earth, Wind & Fire tribute with an established lineup, recognizable repertoire, and years of band history, Kalimba offers a focused show built around the songs audiences know.
