A tribute to The Mamas and the Papas, Papa's and Mama's centers on the music and vocal blend that made the original group a defining part of 1960s American culture. Their influence helped shape the era’s pop sound and image, breaking from the more conservative look and format of earlier vocal groups. With Cass, John, Denny, and Michelle, a different West Coast style moved into the spotlight.
Billed as a loving tribute to the original 1960s rock band, Papa's and Mama's recreates the musical chemistry of one of the few North American groups to sustain widespread success during the British Invasion. The show focuses on the band’s best-known material and the light pop arrangements that helped put California on the musical map.
The cast features Sherry Land-Hicks as Mama Cass Elliot, Mike Butler as Denny Doherty, Natalie Wilde as Michelle Phillips, and Randy Ray Mitchell as John Phillips. Tight four-part harmonies and a close physical resemblance to the original group are central to the presentation.
