Bio
Formed in January 2002, Tennessee River is an Alabama tribute band built to bring the group’s songs and vocal style back to the stage. The project centers on the band many fans know for helping move country music further into the mainstream while reaching listeners across traditional country, pop, and rock.
Tennessee River came together from an already established seven-part harmony project, with the members using this tribute to put their vocal blend at the center of the show. For buyers, that makes the format easy to place: a dedicated Alabama-focused act with a strong emphasis on group vocals and familiar country crossover material.
The choice of Alabama is rooted in the band’s influence and reach. Alabama’s career includes more than 150 industry awards, including 8 country music Entertainer of the Year honors, 2 Grammys, 2 People’s Choice Awards, Artist of the Decade recognition from the Academy of Country Music, Country Group of the Century honors from the RIAA, induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Tennessee River features lead singer Russ Birtola, bassist Sal Birtola, guitarist Mark Jones, guitarist Mike Rose, keyboardist Kirk Gibbs, fiddle player Michael Ray, and drummer Ben Street. The result is a full-band tribute setup that stays focused on Alabama’s legacy and the harmony-driven sound that made the group stand out.
