Rising out of Austin, Texas, The Band in Black began in 2004 as a Johnny Cash tribute band. Their music combines boot-stompin countrified originals with road-seasoned twangy guitar rhythms and a touch of Southern style. Alongside rock covers Cash recorded in later years, the band adds Delta Swamp Bottom boogie and lead vocalist Jason Birdwell’s homespun melodies. Original tracks include I’m Goin to Texas and City Lights, placing The Band in Black in the country rock landscape.
