Los Angeles-based Bohemian Queen is a five-piece Queen tribute band led by Paulie Z as Freddie Mercury, with a live show built around Queen’s catalog and theatrical costume changes.

Bohemian Queen is a Los Angeles-based Queen tribute band built around five seasoned musicians with long roots in rock performance. The show centers on Queen’s catalog and stage spirit, with theatrical Freddie costume transformations as part of the live set.

Frontman Paulie Z came up in Brooklyn playing with local bands including Legend and Splivey Cool before co-founding the power trio ZO2 with his brother David Z. With ZO2, he toured with KISS and Poison, released three albums and four singles, and starred in the TV series Z Rock. After moving to Los Angeles, he focused on solo writing and led the Whisky A Go Go’s Ultimate Jam Night. From 2017 to 2020, he was the lead singer for Sweet. In Bohemian Queen, he takes the Freddie Mercury role while also performing in Zep-LA and Seasons of Cornell.

Guitarist Steve Zukowsky was active in the Los Angeles scene with Sheer Heart Attack, one of the early U.S. Queen tributes. He has also played with Led Zepagain, earned praise from Jimmy Page, performed with symphonic orchestras through Windborne Music, and was nearly part of Queen drummer Roger Taylor’s official tribute band. His connection to Queen’s music goes back to hearing Killer Queen on vinyl.

Bassist Aaron Samson started out in British Columbia and later moved through Southern California music circles after early exposure to production through David Foster and guitarist Jeff Duncan. He went on to help found the rock band ODIN, known for songs including Shining Love, and later worked with Steven Adler and George Lynch. In Bohemian Queen, he returns to the Queen material that first drew him in.

Drummer Glenn Jost, originally from Buffalo, New York, has been performing since age 15. His background includes jazz festivals and national touring with David Victor of Boston. His history with Queen’s music stretches back to his early years and remains a core part of his playing.

Keyboardist Victor Bender was born in Colombia, where he played in the nightclub scene and studied composition and production at Fuentes Records. In Los Angeles, he built a post-production career composing for brands including Coca-Cola and Samsung. His interest in Queen began with Freddie Mercury’s piano work and albums such as A Night at the Opera. He has also worked with Steve Zukowsky and Glenn Jost and produced for bands including Bostyx and Platinum Rockstars.

Together, the band delivers a Queen-focused concert experience led by players with deep familiarity with the material and long performance histories of their own.
