A Decade of Soul is a classic soul and Motown review featuring Prentiss McNeil of The Drifters.
The show looks back to the era shaped by Berry Gordy’s Motown label, the Funk Brothers, Stax Records’ Booker T and the MG’s, King and Smash Records, The Godfather of Soul, and the Columbia label’s Queen of Soul. It is built as a return to the style and sound that defined soul music.
After a twenty eight year tenure with The Drifters, vocalist Prentiss McNeil leads the review alongside Bruce Big Daddy Wayne from Wilson Pickett’s Midnight Movers. The band also features Janelle Jones on vocals, Robert Jack on bass and vocals, William Van Sise on guitar, Paul Connors on keyboards, R.L. DePaul on drums, Connell Red Thompson on sax, and Bob Scarpula on trumpet.
For buyers, the format is clear: a full classic soul ensemble with multiple vocalists and a live horn section, centered on well-known soul and Motown material and veteran performers with direct ties to the style.
