A Joe Cocker tribute led by Leeds-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jason, who came up in the same working men’s clubs and pubs Joe played in the 1960s and later opened for Joe Cocker himself.

Mad Dogs & The Englishmen is built around Jason’s connection to the music and voice of Joe Cocker. Jason grew up in Leeds, 30 miles from Cocker’s hometown of Sheffield, and came up in the 1980s playing the same working men’s clubs and pubs that Joe had played in during the 1960s.

He has worked as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist since his school days, with only a brief break when he was a morning jock at a local radio station in Laguna Beach, California.

Across his career, Jason has opened for Neil Young, Tears For Fears, The Cranberries, John Martyn, Ben Folds Five, Kenny Loggins, David Gray, Christie Moore, and Joe Cocker himself.

Outside this show, he has written and recorded music for television and motion pictures, created a well regarded show based on songs from the plays of William Shakespeare, and recently wrote the score for a play with veteran Saturday Night Live comedienne Rita Rudner.

In 2016, Jason quit the Marlboro Lights he had smoked since high school. They may have done their job though. We think you’ll agree: he sounds just like Joe.
