About Us

Band story and booking context

Johnny Cash tribute artist Philip Bauer brings a long performance background, including a 1985 Minnesota State Fair talent contest win over 800 contestants and nightly fair performances in 1986 with a 40-piece orchestra.

Philip Bauer presents a Johnny Cash tribute backed by decades of performing experience.

He first drew wider attention in 1985, when he won a statewide talent contest in Minnesota. Bauer placed first out of more than 800 contestants at the Minnesota State Fair, and in 1986 he was invited back to perform nightly at the fair with a 40-piece orchestra.

His original songs have also received airplay on more than 300 country music stations across Europe. Through the 1990s, Bauer performed in bands playing his own material along with impersonations of various artists.

It was spooky. He is the best I have ever seen.
