Rising Star Dance & Show Entertainers is a 7-member cover band from San Diego playing popular party and club hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. Their show includes live horns, 4-part harmonies, and a non-stop, high-energy choreographed performance. The group also uses 3 professional choreographer/dancers on stage to hype the show.

The band traces back to 1980, when it performed as Cycles, and changed to the Rising Star name in 1987. Original member Efren E. Sicat handles vocals, keys, and trumpet, and started with the band as a keyboard player doubling on trumpet.

Edwin Sicat, also an original member, serves as musical director and performs on keyboards, guitar, trumpet, trombone, flute, and vocals. Jose Del Rosario handles vocals and trombone and has been with Rising Star Entertainers for 28 years. Since 1976, he has performed professionally four to six shows a week for approximately 42 to 48 weeks a year, touring the Southwest US and occasionally the Far East, and has worked on keyboards and show arrangement programming.

Leroy Payton, from Oceanside, California, performs lead vocals and saxophone. He played the San Diego scene since the 80s with the group Forward Motion and joined Rising Star in the early 90s. Rodney Jones is the band’s drummer and began playing at age 4, later performing in church and with local groups from age 16. Alicia Hennis provides vocals and has sung since childhood; she is also a classical pianist who taught herself at age 5 and grew up around music and the arts.
