The Selena Experience

The Selena Experience is a Selena tribute led by Genessa Escobar, a Colombian-American vocalist whose connection to Selena dates back to the early 90s. Backed by a band assembled by musical director Lenny Rocillo, the show draws from Selena’s Live concert style.

The Selena Experience is a Selena tribute led by Genessa Escobar, whose connection to Selena Quintanilla started in the early 90s. Growing up Colombian-American, Genessa drew from a range of pop influences, including Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey, but seeing Selena gave her a sense of personal connection that stayed with her and shaped her musical direction over time.

Genessa has toured nationally as a member of the all-girl pop group 3rd Faze, appeared on American Idol and It's Showtime at the Apollo, fronted popular New York cover bands, and contributed background vocals to Cheryl Cole’s album 3 Words. Those credits inform a tribute built around a singer with long-standing experience onstage and in commercial pop settings.

The band was assembled under the direction of bass player and band leader Lenny Rocillo, who had previously played with Genessa in other projects and later invited her to front the act. From there, the musicians were individually selected to build a dedicated Selena tribute show.

The live format draws from the popularity of Selena’s last Live album and expands on that concert approach for the stage. The focus is on matching the visual performance with the musical elements and presenting a full tribute concert centered on Selena’s music, style, and stage presence.

For buyers, the pitch is straightforward: a Selena tribute with an established frontwoman, a defined bandleader, and a show built specifically to keep Selena’s memory and music in the spotlight.
